BotW:Pride and Prejudice

Yes, the Downton Abbey gif was necessary for this week's book of the week! Seriously, it was.  I dare you to find a reason it isn't!  DARE YOU! Beyond that, I still need to finish watching this series, however, this week's book of the week is actually the very first book of the Austentatious Book Club, a group that I am part of on Goodreads.

It has been ages since I've read this book.  I am definitely looking forward to this and re-reading this book which I hate to say it, I've not read since high school...which was ungodly long ago.

I think that's all I have to say about this one.  Just a lil bit.

BOTW: The Magicians

Okay, so, I realize it is Saturday and next week's book of the week comes out tomorrow...however, I did promise that this week's book of the week would actually be a thing.  So, here it is, with a few hours to spare in this week.

The Magicians
Lev Grossman

So, for serious.  This book was FANTASTIC! The series commitment thing...is SO TOTALLY A THING with this book.  It's a trilogy.  Three books.  I am actually deliciously loving this series and have recently gotten the 2nd book on my kindle from the library.  Beyond that, I actually want to see the television series - and I'm hoping that it has actually stayed true to the books.  Because this is a fear of mine...it is a thing.  I have had it realized with Silver Linings Playbook.  Loved the book.  Hated the movie. Just no.

Anyway!

Excerpt

Noah felt the hair on the back of his neck rise before he even saw her. Her skin shimmered with sweat. A bright blue tank top hugged her breasts, short black athletic shorts clung to her curves, and sneakers covered what he expected would be petite feet. The woman’s legs went on forever. He indulged in a brief fantasy of running his hands up those tan legs, hips, and up to her ample breasts. As his pants got tighter with a growing erection, he forced himself to turn and grab a drink of water.

For his sanity, Noah wanted to ignore her presence. Too bad he needed to speak to her. He couldn’t ignore what she was doing for Lexi. “Excuse me, Sofia?”

“Hello, Noah.” She smiled and continued to the bottom step of the house’s porch.

Noah walked toward her. “Can I talk to you?”

Her eyes locked on his with discomfort, “Yes?”

When they were a few feet apart, her smell hit him hard. Her sweat had yet to mask the sweet smell of peaches. She wasn’t covered in the strong perfume smell so many women seemed to bathe in. He noticed she wore no makeup either. The woman was truly stunning. He placed his hands in his pockets and rocked back on his heels.

“I wanted to thank you for what you’re doing for Lexi. You had every right to press charges, but I’m very grateful you didn’t. She’s a good kid…” He looked up at the second floor of his house, almost expecting to see Lexi standing at her window. “She’s just had a rough time, and I can’t snap her out it. I hope this close call does it.” He found himself wanting to tell Sofia more, but there was no point. Lexi would do her time with Sofia, and he would walk away with as little contact as possible.

Her head tilted to the side, Sofia’s knowing eyes pierced him. “Sounds like you both have been having a rough time.”

Her comment took him off guard. “Yes. No. Yes.” Noah struggled to breathe at the thought of how rough these last two years had been. When he looked at Sofia, he expected a confused look or even pity but not compassion. Yet her eyes sparkled when she gave him a small smile. Why did he always feel as if she was looking through him or reading his mind?

Sunday Madness!

This weekend has been an absolute abundance of chaos!  Hell, the chaos started on Thursday when I fell and bruise my knee - which lead to a call out from work on Friday.  A miserable shift spent in the kitchen on Saturday.  Then today...which has been well...filled with epic amounts of NOTHING productive!

I currently have 9 people residing in my house.  1 of which will be heading home sometime tomorrow and I will miss her greatly!  Beyond that, 8 people now reside under my roof for the time being.  Including 2 additional children...which makes for a not so quiet environment.  To the point that I've swapped to the good noise cancelling headphones, and volume up louder because needed.

So, I promise, this week's book of the week will be going up tomorrow, because I will after errands are done be cranking up something...probably the Hamilton soundtrack...or something on Spotify and slamming out ALL the things.  Because I need to stop being such a slacker and making the Dr. disappointed in me and the abundance of fuckery that has not been happening on this blog.

Wish List Wednesday!!

I am a bibliophile.  There will always be books and book related things that I want.  This is just a fact of life.  If you've not gathered this fact then you are in for a somewhat harsh awakening.  However, I am much like Ariel with her want for gadgets and gizmos...I want more.  Loads more!

Here are some of the books on my wish list :D

Top 10 Tuesday

Happy Tuesday lovelies!  How is your week so far?  Survived Monday with minimal casualties? I know I did! Beyond that, I hope that you all are reading something absolutely wonderful and that you find some joy in today's top 10 list here at the Confessional!

Lately, I've been on a YA kick.  Lots of books in this genre, and spanning into different genres in general...fantasy, romance, sci-fi, dystopian, and so many more!  Yet, I want to pick just 10 that have easily become my favorites (and chances are some of these will be whole series listed, but don't judge me!)

TOP 10 YA FAVORITES

10. Divergent Series - Veronica Roth
9. The Maze Runner Series - James Dashner
8. The Giver Quartet - Lois Lowry
7. The Dwellers Saga - David Estes
6. His Fair Assassin Series - Robin LeFevers
5. Delirium Series - Lauren Oliver
4. The Grisha Series - Leigh Bardugo
3. Daughter of Smoke & Bone Series - Laini Taylor
2. The Iron Fey/Lost Prince - Julie Kagawa
1. The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins

Okay, seriously, I think this is by far one of the hardest freaking lists I've ever written!  Because there are so many that aren't on this list that would fit..and I don't want to knock any of them out of position...but SERIOUSLY?!  GAH!

What are some of your favorite YA novels?

BotW: The Night Circus

Happy Sunday lovelies!  Another week has begun and that means it is time to share with you the book of the week!  I know, I missed last week - I blame acute bronchitis.  Now, I have meds and all sorts of things that are making me feel loads better!  Thankfully, I am using my bullet journal for plotting and planning and hopefully getting myself back on track to ensure that I keep creating awesome things for all of you to indulge in!

Anyway, this book of the week is one of my favorites so far of 2016, and I want to read it again.  However, not so much adding it directly to my tbr pile because well...we all know the state of my TBR pile.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is absolutely wonderful.  Charming.  Brilliant.  Engrossing.  I finished this book in two days, and I absolutely fell in love.  It can possibly be a little bit confusing at first with the shifting POV however, it is well, well worth the read.

Any and everyone I can recommend this book to I greatly will!  Read this book.  OH MY GOD read this book!

Yes, there is the circus aspect, however there is also a competition between two young illusionists.  That competition is an interesting little twist to things, and makes the book all the more enjoyable because it takes a little bit for them to realize who they are competing against. The imagery in this novel is absolutely stunning and I want to live in this world.

Have you read this book?  Is it on your TBR?

Week in Review

Hello lovelies!

I do apologize for the lack of content this week.  Between work an apparently a case of acute bronchitis, I pretty much had absolutely ZERO focus to do anything more than read or stare at Netflix for the rest of the evening.  Beyond that, now that there has been a trip to the ER and antibiotics and cough meds obtained, I am feeling a bit better and that is just one day into the medication.  I'm still actually keeping up on my bullet journal, and I'm enjoying the process.  I am still attempting to figure out just what works for me, however, I am really liking things as they are at the moment.

Beyond that, I have finished five books on my July TBR list - this week.  I still have a few on the list to go.  I have three books that are author read and reviews coming up toward the end of the month, and one of those books that I've finished is on that short list.

Books Read July 3-8
1. The Magicians - Lev Grossman
2. The Yellow Brick War - Danielle Paige
3. Frozen - Robin Wasserman
4. The Exiled Queen - Cinda Williams Chima
5. Vincent, Survivor - O.L. Eggert

I've blog posts coming, as well as reviews for the week.  Between today and tomorrow I will be getting things together and will have quite a bit of content for you.  Some What's On My Kindle, Book of the Week, and all sorts of things.

Anyway, that's just a little glimpse into my life and how this week has been going for me.
