Bullet Journaling and Me: My Essentials & Favorites

Anyone that knows me, knows that I have started bullet journaling.  This is something that is very, very near and dear to my heart, and I am honestly so very, very thankful for this simple system created by Ryder Caroll.  It is forgiving.  It is simple.  it is 100% customizable to the individual needs.

I have only been bullet journaling since August of 2015, but it has become such an important part of my daily routines that I am feeling less anxious, less depressed - that's not to say that it is a cure-all for these particular things.  It is saying that it helps ease my own anxiety and depression - because I force myself to focus on certain things and not focus on others.  In the nearly five months that I have been doing this, I have come across some of my favorite things that are ALWAYS with me when I work on creating new things in my bullet journal when I update things and all sorts of things like that.  I'm going to share with you some of my favorites. (Yes, I know there are already hundreds of blog posts and videos like this but this is -my- list and there is only one like it.)

Anyway! Let's get onto the list! Each item in the list will link to my favorite items that I use when I work in my bullet journal.  Additional links will be found at the bottom of this list.  Also, check out the video on my youtube channel where you can see my washi collection as well as a few other items.

1. A Notebook

Seriously, any kind of notebook will work for this.  Cheap spiral bound notebook, cheap composition book (ruled or graph).  I started with a simple sketchbook and when I ran out of pages in that one, switched to a Leuchtturm1917 dotted notebook - which I promptly fell in love with.  Eventually, I think I do want to purchase the official Bullet Journal edition of the Leuchtturm1917 from the official site.  If you are sure you are going to keep up with it, or not sure you want to drop $20 on a notebook, then go with something more affordable and just have fun with it.  Don't stress on the book that you are using because that will take all the fun out of it - trust me.

2. A Pen

Anything from a cheap ballpoint pen to a fancy fountain pen.  That is all you really need to go with your notebook.  I, however, have been using anything from rollerball gel pens to my fountain pen, to Staedtler fineliners and Micron pens in mine. I also have a set of cheap brush pens, Crayola markers, colored pencils, and some simple highlighters that I've used in mine as of late.

Those are literally all the essential things that you need for Bullet Journaling.  A notebook and a pen, that's all.  The simple system is easily modified and you can customize it to whatever you need it for.

The next set of things are some of my absolute FAVORITE things to include in my spreads in my bullet journal, and I think that is just because I'm not partial to the minimalist style of bullet journaling.  I blame the fact that I used to scrapbook (and still do kinda).

1. Washi Tape

This decorative tape comes in various sizes and thousands upon thousands of different prints. There are check boxes, days of the week, holidays, animations, cutesy things, and so many other things that are printed on these tapes.  There are cloth varieties and some that are more of a slick surfaced tape. They can be written on (usually with a Sharpie marker).

2. Stickers

I have always been obsessed with stickers.  All varieties, shapes, and sizes.  Various themes.  Letters.  Numbers.  Fancy ones, plain ones.  I just like adding them as little touches of color and uniqueness throughout my spreads.  I might even base a weekly theme off a certain set of stickers (or I have been known to do such for washi tape as well).  There are so many options when it comes to using stickers, but ultimately they are not necessary, but an additional thing you can add to your journal.

3. Ruler or Geometry kit (yes, think the one you had to buy for school).

Rulers and things like protractors and things are NOT a necessity, however, if you wish to include things like mood mandalas, or you are incapable of drawing a straight line (even with the help of a ruler *raises hand*) then you might want to invest in something to help you ensure that your lines are straight or you can get circles perfect.

Again, just know that you don't need anything super expensive to bullet journal.  Don't let those people with fancy, intricate spreads in their journals discourage you.  You don't even have to add color or anything like that to your journal.  Minimalist journals have just as pleasing as an aesthetic as the colorful ones. It is all a matter of what -you- want your journal to be.  As long as it is useful and designed to your needs that is all that matters.

Let me know some of your favorite bullet journal supplies! I am also welcome to recommendations of things I should tryout in mine!

Bye for now!

Tuesday Thoughts: Books and BuJo

Current status!

No, seriously, I'm furiously typing and attempting to get loads of content up for this week.  I've got a couple days off and that means filming (If I'm lucky) and getting a heads up on some of my blog posts, as well as hopefully getting a few things done around the house that need to get done...I won't bore you with the list, but they are things like laundry and coloring my hair and things like that.

Anyway, as you can tell from the title, my thoughts today are on books and bullet journals! These two things are pretty much my life as of late, as well as my music which I've been completely absorbed in the last few days when I'm not binge watching things on Netlfix (yeah, I'm shameless like that...Oh, Shameless...that's a good show, need to watch more of it! Later >.>).

I figured I would share a few of my favorite Bookstagram and BuJo Instagram accounts! I know you'll love em, and you should definitely give them a follow...as well as follow mine, which can be found below.

These are just a couple of my favorites, but if you look through #bookstagram #bookstagrammer hashtags on Instagram you will find a wealth of others that are absolutely fantastic!  No, seriously, check them out!

Okay, so if you've followed me this far, thank you so much!  These are a few of my favorite Instagram accounts and I figured I would share some of them with you today.  They are where I get some of my inspirations from, especially the Boho Berry account.  Kara's stuff is absolutely amazeballs and I adore her so very much!

Anyway, I think I'm going to wrap up this blog and get to work on a few other things I've got planned to go live today!  Love you all!

Goal for today - dealing with those personal deadlines like a bawse!

Tuesday's Thoughts

Hello lovelies!!  Welcome to a wonderful Tuesday (wonderful in that I have a day off and it's blissfully gloomy and rainy outside, which means that I've done nothing but nap and read all day!).  I also happened to do a thing.  A little thing, but it gets my youtube channel up and running with my first video!  The quality is not the best, but I'm still working out the kinks and getting familiar with my editing software.

So, it was a fun thing to do while I was out the other day (filmed before I'd realized that I was suffering from strep throat and not just a cold).  I enjoyed the time out with my niece and I'm considering taking up vlogging in addition to my regular blogging in 2017.  We will see how that goes!

So I've the video down below for you to check out!  Subscribe and let's get this ball rolling!

I've already started my first two books of 2017, and I am absolutely loving each of them for different reasons.  I'm currently reading The Unbecoming of Myra Dyer by Michelle Hodkin and The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski.  Both of which fall into the Listy A to z challenge, and I am using The Unbecoming of Myra Dyer for my first book in the PopSugar 2017 Reading Challenge.  I am also doing Book Riot's Read Harder challenge.  I've even updated my reading spreadsheet to track all three of these challenges.  It will be interesting to see where my reading takes me this year.

Do you have any book recommendations that could help me fill these challenges? More authors of color that I need to read? LGBTQ+ authors that I need to read? I'm open to any and every suggestion!

Until next time lovelies,

Caedy

Adventures in Building

Evening lovelies!!!

This weekend has been filled with all manner of adventures!

Company visiting which is always fun! Especially when it is my bestie!!! My person visiting always makes me happy, and the best part is there was the exchanging of Christmas gifts. I have a new bento box, which I cannot use at work because I work with idiots who would throw my lunch away and to be honest I would have to kill someone for tossing my expensive bento boxes. I now have two good ones: my happy animals froggy, and my Rilakuma one that I just got for Christmas.

I also have two new bookcases, one for me and one for my roommate. I spent last night with my bestie putting them together and starting to move furniture around to ensure that everything fits in. I even spent another 4 hours this morning tackling everything that I didn't get done before I went to bed at 2am. I love how I have everything set up and I just need a few more things to actually have things as I want them.

I also have some of my favorite Happy Meal toys displayed one the bookcase and my desk. I also got this week's bullet journal spread done. I only have 2 more spreads left to do for this year and that makes me sad.

How was your weekend?

WLW: Bullet Journal

Two months ago, I ultimately started bullet journaling.  The end of June I started, and my first full month was July and by the first week of July I was one hundred percent addicted to the freedom it offered me.  I've been struggling with productivity, and organizing my thoughts.  I absolutely love everything about bullet journals.  Everything.

I can be as creative as I need to, and ensure that I have organization for the projects I'm working on things of that nature.  Especially now that I am working on getting my crew trainer title back at work.  So, here are a few items on my wishlist for my bullet journal.

The notebook I want:

I've been going back and forth between this one and the Moleskine, however, this one is ultimately the one that I want, because of some of the features that it offers that put it a step or two above the Moleskine.  This one has numbered pages, index, as well as stickers for archival processes.  Thus, this is the one that I will hopefully be buying this month.  For now, I am using pocket sized sketchbooks.

The pens:

These pens are some of the most common used for bullet journals.  They don't bleed through and the come in a variety of colors and are good for fine line detail.  The current pens I use are good, but I want these to add detail and more color to my bullet journal and it will allow me to actually color code various tasks in such a way that it will stand out a bit more.

Washi Tape..:

No, seriously...washi tape.  Do you have any idea how addicting this stuff is?!  GIVE IT TO ME!  All the colors.  ALL THE THINGS!

It's good for quite a few different things in a bullet journal, and I need quite a bit more :D

Do you bullet journal?
