BOTW: The Magicians

Okay, so, I realize it is Saturday and next week's book of the week comes out tomorrow...however, I did promise that this week's book of the week would actually be a thing.  So, here it is, with a few hours to spare in this week.

The Magicians
Lev Grossman

So, for serious.  This book was FANTASTIC! The series commitment thing...is SO TOTALLY A THING with this book.  It's a trilogy.  Three books.  I am actually deliciously loving this series and have recently gotten the 2nd book on my kindle from the library.  Beyond that, I actually want to see the television series - and I'm hoping that it has actually stayed true to the books.  Because this is a fear of mine...it is a thing.  I have had it realized with Silver Linings Playbook.  Loved the book.  Hated the movie. Just no.

Anyway!

What are you all currently reading?

Top 10 Tuesday: Mid Year Favorites

Welcome to this week's top ten Tuesday!

Ten books.  I think that's easier than picking five...right? I mean 5 is bigger than 10 and gives me more room to juggle the rankings and keep me sane...RIGHT?! Okay, that's what we'll go with!

So, this week's top ten is going to be my mid-year favorites, since we are at the half way point through this year (SERIOUSLY, where did this year go already?!).

2016 Mid Year Favorites

10. The Eye of Minds - James Dashner
9. Trigger Warnings - Neil Gaiman
8. The Bourbon Kings - J.R. Ward
7. The Shadows - J.R. Ward
6. Dorothy Must Die - Danielle Paige
5. The Dom Who Loved Me - Lexi Blake
4. The Martian - Andy Weir
3. The Bone Season - Samantha Shannon
2. Ruin and Rising - Leigh Bardugo
1. Strings - David Estes

And there are my 10 Mid Year Favorites.
What are yours?

February in Review

I seriously cannot believe that February is over!  What happened to this month?  Really? Though, at the same time, I am very glad that this month has come to a close.  It was quite stressful for me work wise, and that translated into things that were done here on the blog.  Simply because I lacked the motivation and the focus to properly give you all the wonderful content that you have come to know and expect from me.  I'm really hoping that the coming months will be much less stressful now that things at work are settling.

Here are the things that did happen around the Confessional this month!

Things I Read:

To All the Boys I've Loved Before - Jenny Han
Strings - David Estes
Saga, vol. 1 - Brian K. Vaughan
Saga, vol. 2 - Brian K. Vaughan
Saga, vol. 3 - Brian K. Vaughan
Saint Anything - Sarah Dessen
Another Day - David Levithan
For Darkness Shows the Stars - Diana Peterfreund
Immanuel's Veins - Ted Dekker
Legacy of Kings - Eleanor Herman

And that is what happened this month here at the Confessional!  I'm looking forward to what March has coming!

Bibliophile's TBR and More for March

Okay, I know you can already see this list just there...*points to the pretty list off to the side of the blog*  However, I also like to put together a concise post of what I intend on reading each month.  Yes, before you say it, you will see five carry over books that is mainly because I have a slightly addictive relationship with my library card and it is a rarity that I can actually step foot into the library without coming out with a stack of books that usually take precedence over any books that I actually own (mainly because I have to give them back at the end of a twenty-one day period....or forty-two day period if I can actually renew them...though it rarely takes me longer than twenty-one days to read some of the books...).

This Month's TBR is already somewhat daunting for me, as it includes the book that will be the longest book I've read so far this year.  So far, the longest is The Bone Season by Samantha Shanon at a comfortable 480 pages which surprisingly only took me 5-ish days to read.  This year I have been slightly more OCD about tracking my reading, and I have a spreadsheet in Google Docs that I am tracking a variety of things including the amount of page numbers I've read for the year.  At the end of February I have read a massive: 9414 pages worth of books. Once I finish the books I have listed in my spreadsheet (not all of them are on March's TBR list, but will probably be read throughout the month) I will have read 15525 pages worth of words so far in 2016.

Anyway, here are the things I intend on getting read during the month of March 2016....

1. Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira - Started 2/29/16 - 336 pgs
2. The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins - Started 2/29/16 - 336 pgs
3. Trigger Warnings: Short Fictions and Disturbances by Neil Gaiman - 310 pgs
4. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George R.R. Martin - 355 pgs
5. The Crimson Petal and the White by Michel Faber - 901 pgs
6. Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls by Lynn Weingarten - 336 pgs
7. Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Saenz - 359 pgs
8. The Number 7 by Jessica Lidh - 272 pgs
9. Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee - 278 pgs
10. The Wrath & the Dawn by Renee Ahdleh - 395 pgs

The following books will be supplemented to my TBR and may at times take precedence to those that are either from the library or those that I own, because they were given to me by authors to review:

1. Assassin's Lament by Michael Cairns - 329 pgs
2. Ninja Zombie killers I by Michael Cairns - 242 pgs
3. Locked Inside by Annette Mori - 199 pgs

The following will also be supplemented and find places among this month's TBR because I'd lapsed in getting these read and reviews posted and I do owe it to the authors to finally get these reviews posted (and often it will require re-reading the book)...

1. Banished Love by Ramona Flightner - 289 pgs
.2. Death's Servant by C.J. Ellisson - 119 pgs
3. A Silent Prayer by Samreen Ahsan - 339 pgs
4. Darkness Watching by Emma L. Adams - 207 pgs
5. Just Beneath the Surface I by R.H. Ramsey - 217 pgs
6. Landon's Story by R.H. Ramsey - 292 pgs.

I have been slacking on my reviews, and I do hope to remedy that and ultimately catch up to the place where I have all the books that are listed in my Completed list, but lacking actual links are done.  So to do that, I am hoping to have on top of all the weekly fun posts throughout the month at least two to three reviews posted daily here on the blog.  I don't want to overwhelm, so they will be at staggered times throughout the day if I do more than three per day.  So, check back often for reviews and weekly goodies!

Heads Up!

That gif pretty much sums up how the last 2 weeks or so have been.  A dash of depression tumbled around with a cold, throw in a massive amount of work being a royal pain in the ass, and a few other things that I'd rather not get into and you've got the last few weeks in a nutshell.

My TBR pile has been altered...thanks to trips to the library, because bad things always happen to my library card when I go to the library...Case in point, I stopped in there yesterday, just to go to the bathroom (we were out walking, it was the closest one) and I walk out with a book.  Seriously, I can't even go in there for like 5 minutes without coming without a book.  I have a problem.  Don't get me help...*grins*

I've finished a few, and I will still get to the books that I own that are on this month's TBR...and chances are that won't be until the end of the month, beginning of next month...but eventually, as usual all the books get cleared out of my TBR at some point (even if they get carried over a week or so).  There is one book that I will be super excited to add to my TBR list and share with you, but I can't do that until next month....sorry lovelies!   But, check out the changes...over there on the TBR list for the month. Anything with an L next to it is a library copy and ultimately moves to priority on the reading list due to ya know, the fact that I have to give it back eventually.

My goal today is to attempt to wrap up all the reviews for the month, get them scheduled for the right days so check out through the week.  I might push a few through early, I've not decided yet since I've missed about 3 weeks of reviews on about twenty six books.  Not counting the nine books that I have slated for this week (thank you trusty planner for making me feel like a horrible failure for skipping things).  2016 has started kinda bumpy and I'm hoping to get my shit together and ultimately smooth things out.

So, enough with this rambling and such.  Time to get my butt in gear and slam out some reviews, Top 10 Tuesdays, Wish List Wednesdays, and What's on My Kindle for the week!  I might even throw in some Throwback Thursdays if I'm feeling a bit frisky!  This week will be filled with lots of things for the blog.  First post you should look for is this week's book of the week!

Lots of love!
