Chaos Thy Name is Renovation

No, seriously, the above gif is literally how I have felt for the past two weeks.  My landlord and the handyman have been here off and on throughout the last two weeks working on a couple of renovation projects in the house.  Yeah, couple.  Simultaneously.  2 bathrooms, both getting new toilets, one getting new flooring, new light fixture, and hopefully that will be the end of it until the landlord decides to come back and finish painting the hallway, change the lightbulb in the hallway, and then later this summer work on the bedrooms one at a time to rip up the carpet, replace the flooring and paint the walls.  Oh yeah, I'm seriously looking forward to all of that in the middle of a Florida summer!  NOT.

Beyond that, that's why I've been quiet for the last few weekends because that's when they've been coming in to do most of the work and I honestly spend most of the time curled up in my room with headphones on and music blaring and my nose in a book.

My current read has been flipping through The Collected Poems of Audre Lorde which I devoured in about one sitting.  I'm attempting to mark some of my favorites before it has to go back to the library, and this is definitely a book that I need to add to my own personal collection because her work is absolutely fantastic.  I've also recently finished Warriors 1 which is an anthology edited by George R.R. Martin as well as The Invasion of the Tearling by Erika Johansen.  I will have reviews of those coming, I've also recently read another collection of poetry that I'm greatly in love with, The Princess Saves Herself in this One, by Amanda Lovelace, which I got through Netgalley.

I also have 2 books from Netgalley that I will be getting to within the next week or so because I want to get the reviews up and ready before their publication dates.  Which reminds me, I need to update my information with Netgalley.  I also have several books out from the library that I need to get to both physical and digital so there will be lots and lots of reading happening!

Here is the current list of books that I will be plowing my way through within the next 3-4 weeks (in no particular order):

1. Blood Vow - J.R. Ward
2. Commonwealth - Anne Patchett
3. The Kept Woman - Karin Slaughter
4. Small Great Things - Jodi Picoult
5. In Other Words - Jhumpa Lahiri
6. A Spy in the House - Y. S. Lee
7. The Declaration - Gemma Malley
8. The Bone Witch - Rin Chupeco
9. The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett - Chelsea Sedoti
10. The Wicked + The Divine: The Faust Act
11. The Wicked + The Divine: Fandemonium
12. Tokyo Ghoul: Vol 1
13. To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee

Only a handful of these are digital books, the rest are physical copies.  I'm looking forward to pretty much all of them (I've read To Kill a Mockingbird before, it's been awhile, though).  I also have a few reviews that I'm in the process of working on, and hopefully, will have lots more posted for you this week.

Time to get busy!

Productivity and I

This has pretty much been the mantra for my week thus far.  It's been hella busy with Christmas coming up this week, my meditation for the Solstice last night, with morning devotions at sunrise, coupled with the fact that my neuropathy has been kicked into high fucking gear for the last two days (go figure my two days off when I have to get just about EVERYTHING done I spend them in and out of my brace).

I have still managed to actually get a few things crossed off my to-do list which makes my bujo happy.  I've even started working on some 2017 spreads.  I still have to refilm my initial youtube video because the quality of the first one was absolute shit because the lighting in my house sucks.

I still have quite a few more things to get done to be completely caught up and ready for the new year - reviews, well those are a laughable thing and I will not be caught up in the 10 days we have left of 2016...so I'll ultimately get to those come January considering I intend on taking this weekend off from the blog and spending time with family - there will probably be a holiday haul video and post here on the blog and my youtube channel sometime on Sunday or Monday...depending on when I manage to get some time off to film it (or don't feel like death warmed over after work).

In the mean time, I am attempting to catch up on my pen pal letters - I have 6 that I'm behind on and I can effectively focus on those despite the pain - because typing actually makes things worse so I'm probably going to end this blog post here.

Have a good evening and I'll see you later this week!

Blessed Solstice,

Week in Review

Hello lovelies!

I do apologize for the lack of content this week.  Between work an apparently a case of acute bronchitis, I pretty much had absolutely ZERO focus to do anything more than read or stare at Netflix for the rest of the evening.  Beyond that, now that there has been a trip to the ER and antibiotics and cough meds obtained, I am feeling a bit better and that is just one day into the medication.  I'm still actually keeping up on my bullet journal, and I'm enjoying the process.  I am still attempting to figure out just what works for me, however, I am really liking things as they are at the moment.

Beyond that, I have finished five books on my July TBR list - this week.  I still have a few on the list to go.  I have three books that are author read and reviews coming up toward the end of the month, and one of those books that I've finished is on that short list.

Books Read July 3-8
1. The Magicians - Lev Grossman
2. The Yellow Brick War - Danielle Paige
3. Frozen - Robin Wasserman
4. The Exiled Queen - Cinda Williams Chima
5. Vincent, Survivor - O.L. Eggert

I've blog posts coming, as well as reviews for the week.  Between today and tomorrow I will be getting things together and will have quite a bit of content for you.  Some What's On My Kindle, Book of the Week, and all sorts of things.

Anyway, that's just a little glimpse into my life and how this week has been going for me.

Hello Sweeties!

Sweet lord.  I never thought the last week was going to end.  I do apologize for going dark for nearly a week and change.  I'd worked an over 40 hr work week last week and my body simply could not even begin to function beyond necessities.  This, coupled with a minor anxiety attack over the fact that my first paycheck from the new owner at work was late...it was just absolute chaos.  I don't even remember if I finished reading anything last week...let alone updated anything.

It's been crazy.  So, I'm spending some time getting up some much needed love.  I'm a little late on some reviews (if anyone is surprised by that you must be new here) and I'll be doing my darnedest to get things caught up.  I am legit almost caught up (if I can get my butt in gear and start working on things properly).

Here are some of the things you can expect for the coming week or two! Yes, I'm going to attempt to get that much done!  Don't die of shock!

Review: I'll Give You the Sun

Starting with the review of I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson, that will begin books that I've read in 2016, and have me fully caught up from last years books aside from books that I'd been given for review.  See, I'm getting there!  However, I think I have a few more books to add to the list.  Also, one of these reviews, I think probably one of the ones on Monday or Tuesday will be my 100th review!

So, without further adieu...time for me to get things rolling!
